Association between glycated hemoglobin and hematological parameters in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus: a cross-sectional study

Highlights • HbA1c was associated with selected red blood cell indices in T2DM.• MCHC showed the most consistent adjusted association with HbA1c.• HbA1c-hematocrit associations differed between female and male patients.• Anemia prevalence varied significantly across glycemic control categories.• Findings support cautious HbA1c interpretation with hematological abnormalities.
