Abstract
Abstract: Comic books, once regarded as children’s subliterature or merely humorous productions, have consolidated themselves as artistic and cultural expressions of great social relevance. In the contemporary context, especially within digital media, they have become powerful instruments of resistance and anti-racist awareness. This study aims to analyze the use of comic books in the teaching of reading and text production from a critical, interdisciplinary, and bilingual perspective (Portuguese and English), taking as its starting point the character Rê Tinta, created by Estêvão Ribeiro. The guiding question of this research is: in what ways can the use of comic books in interdisciplinary and bilingual education contribute to the development of students’ critical reading and text production, while also promoting reflections on identity, culture, and resistance? This qualitative research is grounded in the theoretical contributions of Marcuschi (2008), Bezerra (2017–2022), Silva (2020), Bazerman (2011), and Bakhtin (1997) regarding discourse genres, as well as in the teaching methodology proposed by Dolz, Noverraz, and Schneuwly (2004). The literature review draws on Ramos (2017) and Rojo (2012), highlighting the role of comic books and multiliteracies in educational contexts.
