The Research of Roller Profile Modification Depth on The Service Life of cold rolling mill Cylindrical Roller Bearings
Abstract
Cold rolling mills operate under complex loading conditions including drastic load fluctuations, multi-load coupling, high-speed dynamic effects and cyclic impact loads, accompanied by considerable tension loads and eccentric loading hazards. Cylindrical roller bearings, the predominant bearing type for cold rolling mills, have rollers exposed to heavy loads and edge stress concentrations, which frequently lead to premature failure. Aiming to extend bearing fatigue life, this paper develops a roller life model accounting for roller profile modification by means of Romax software, complying with the standards ISO 16281 and ISO 281. The effect of modification depth on fatigue life is systematically studied. The optimal modification parameter for maximum bearing service life is identified. By comparing the service life of FCDP176246850 rollers at various modification depths, the depth yielding the longest bearing life is confirmed to be 0.007 mm. The roller profile modification strategy proposed in this paper for enhancing the service life of cylindrical roller bearings possesses important reference significance for the bearing design of wind turbines, aero-engines, gas turbines and other heavy-duty equipment under severe impact conditions. Furthermore, it contributes substantially to guaranteeing the long-term and stable operation of such engineering facilities.
