TL;DR

Phylogenetic analysis of protein-coding genes from 20 congeneric species robustly placed Amorphophallus myosuroides in a clade with A. titanum and A. paeoniifolius within the Southeast Asian lineage, clarifies its evolutionary relationships and provides data for studies on speciation, morphology, taxonomy, and biogeography in Amorphophallus.

Abstract

Abstract The genus Amorphophallus exhibits high species diversity but poorly resolved phylogeny due to phenotypic plasticity and convergence. Amorphophallus myosuroides, with unique silvery leaf markings, lacked complete plastome data, leaving its phylogenetic placement uncertain. We sequenced and assembled its first chloroplast genome using PacBio HiFi sequencing. The circular genome is 171,894 bp in length contains 128 genes, including the trans-splicing gene rps12. Phylogenetic analysis of protein-coding genes from 20 congeneric species robustly placed it in a clade with A. titanum and A. paeoniifolius within the Southeast Asian lineage. This clarifies its evolutionary relationships and provides data for studies on speciation, morphology, taxonomy, and biogeography in Amorphophallus.

The complete chloroplast genome assembly of Amorphophallus mossambicensis (Araceae) from Africa

Abstract Amorphophallus mossambicensis (Schott ex Garcke) N.E.Br 1901, distributed from Tanzania to southern Africa in arid shrubland and deserts, had its complete chloroplast genome assembled to resolve its phylogenetic position. The genome was 168,728 bp, comprising LSC (90,388 bp), SSC (14,572 bp), two IRs (31,884 b...

Characteristics and phylogenetic analysis of the complete chloroplast genome of Thalictrum przewalskii Maxim. 1877

Abstract This study first reported the complete chloroplast genome of Thalictrum przewalskii Maxim. and analyzed its structure and phylogeny. This circular double-stranded genome is 155,922 bp long with a GC content of 38.4%, containing an 85,347 bp LSC region, a 17,613 bp SSC region, and two 26,481 bp IR regions. A to...

The complete mitochondrial genome of Sclerophytum querciforme Pratt 1903 (Anthozoa: Octocorallia: Sarcophytidae)

Abstract Historically, the taxonomic classification and phylogenetic position of Sclerophytum querciforme, which is primarily delineated by morphological characteristics, have long remained controversial and undergone repeated revisions. In this study, we sequenced and systematically analyzed the complete mitochondrial...

The complete chloroplast genome of Heterostemma pingtaoi (Apocynaceae)

Abstract Heterostemma pingtaoi, a species endemic to Hainan Island, China, was discovered and formally described in the family Apocynaceae in 2010. However, genetic and evolutionary information on the genus Heterostemma remains poorly understood. Here, we report the complete chloroplast (cp) genome sequence of H. pingt...

Characterization of the complete mitochondrial genome of Hierococcyx sparverioides and phylogenetic implications

Abstract The species Hierococcyx sparverioides belongs to the order Cuculiformes, family Cuculidae. We present the first complete mitochondrial genome of H. sparverioides (17,264 bp; GenBank PX733929), comprising 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNAs, 2 rRNAs, and a control region, with a structure similar to other Cuculid...

Complete mitogenome and phylogenetic analysis of the tertiary relict shrub Platycrater arguta (Hydrangeaceae)

Abstract Platycrater arguta Siebold & Zucc., is a monotypic Hydrangeaceae genus, yet its mitogenomic information remains limited. We assembled its mitogenome from PacBio HiFi reads: 435,757 bp (45.76% GC), containing 66 genes (36 protein-coding, 27 tRNA, 3 rRNA). Complex trans-splicing introns occurred in nad1, nad2 an...
