Optimizing Knowledge Discovery Using Artificial Intelligence to Support Organizational Decision-Making
Abstract
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become an important technology for enhancing organizational Knowledge Management, particularly in the Knowledge Discovery process. However, many organizations still rely on conventional Knowledge Management Systems that primarily function as repositories for storing and sharing knowledge, limiting their ability to discover valuable insights from rapidly growing organizational data. This study aims to analyze the role of Artificial Intelligence in optimizing Knowledge Discovery to support organizational decision-making and to propose a conceptual framework illustrating AI integration within Knowledge Management processes. A conceptual literature review approach was employed by synthesizing previous studies on Knowledge Management, Knowledge Discovery, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Knowledge Graphs, Generative AI, and decision support systems. The findings indicate that AI significantly improves Knowledge Discovery by automating knowledge extraction, semantic analysis, pattern recognition, predictive analytics, and intelligent knowledge retrieval. Based on the literature synthesis, this study proposes an AI-Based Knowledge Discovery Framework consisting of six stages: knowledge source identification, data preparation, AI-based knowledge processing, knowledge discovery, knowledge validation, and knowledge application. The study also identifies several organizational benefits, including improved operational efficiency, enhanced organizational learning, and more accurate evidence-based decision-making, while highlighting challenges related to data quality, governance, ethics, explainability, and human validation. In conclusion, Artificial Intelligence functions as an enabling technology that complements human expertise by transforming traditional Knowledge Management into an intelligent system capable of continuously generating organizational knowledge and supporting sustainable organizational decision-making.
