Abstract
As a basic research for modeling the compressive characteristics of soil mixed with deformable particles such as rubber chips, a method for quantitatively classifying and evaluating compressive components caused by deformation of particles constituting the skeleton was examined. Specifically, one- dimensional compression tests of the rod-stack model using rubber and aluminum rod were carried out, and these components were quantitatively analyzed using the image analysis. In particular, this study focused on the pore volume change caused by further movement of deformed particles, which has not been clarified in previous studies. Then, the compression situation of the rod-stack model cross section was geometrically considered, and the method for calculating each compression component was examined considering the deformation coefficient and Poisson’s ratio of rubber. As a result, a model equation which could predict the compression behavior of the rod-stack model changing with the mixing ratio of rubber rods and the initial porosity was proposed.
Researchers have explored the effects of incorporating cup lump natural rubber as an asphalt modification to promote rubber utilization and enhance pavement performance. However, cup-lump natural rubber treatment affects the performance of asphalt mixtures. This study investigates how cup-lump natural rubber treated vi...

In this study, a hydraulic-mechanical coupled model of unsaturated soil considering the effect of time was established based on unsaturated elastic-plastic theory. The model considers not only the influence of the degree of saturation and viscoplastic strain on soil hardening but also that of viscous volumetric str...

In this study, the mechanical behavior of pure aluminum foam sheets with different porosity ratios (50%, 55%, 60%, and 70%) under compressive load was numerically investigated using the finite element method. The yield stress and plateau stress values, which define the energy absorption and impact resistance capabiliti...
