Web-Based Interactive Media Development For Improving Elementary Students' Conceptual Understanding Of Flat Shapes: A Mixed-Method R&D Study
Abstract
The low learning outcomes of students in the Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) subject on the human respiratory system material are caused by the limitations of interactive learning media and the dominance of the lecture method. This study aims to develop SIMPERA (Human Respiratory System) interactive media and to test its feasibility and effectiveness in improving the learning outcomes of fifth-grade elementary school students. The research employed the Research and Development (R&D) method with the Borg and Gall model integrated with the ASSURE model. The trial subjects involved 32 fifth-grade students of SDN Ciherang 01, Dramaga, Bogor. The research instruments included expert validation sheets (material, media, instructional design), user response questionnaires, and learning achievement tests (pretest-posttest). Data were analyzed using feasibility percentage and N-Gain Score test. The results showed that the media feasibility level from instructional design experts was 96.0%, material experts 96.8%, media experts 98.4%, teacher responses 98.0%, one-to-one test 96.2%, small group test 96.5%, and large group test 97.0%, all in the "highly feasible" category. The effectiveness test showed an improvement in learning outcomes with an average pretest score of 65.94 increasing to 93.00 in the posttest. The N-Gain Score result was 0.81 (81%) with a "high" category and "effective" interpretation. This study concludes that SIMPERA interactive media is feasible and effective for improving IPAS learning outcomes on the human respiratory system material in fifth-grade elementary school
