Abstract

This report records the founding of the India Research Assessment Forum (IRAF), launched on 10 June 2025 at the Research AI Summit 2025, ‘Bridging innovation and open science’, held at the National Institute of Plant Genome Research in New Delhi on 9 and 10 June 2025. The summit was organised by the BRIC-National Institute of Plant Genome Research, the BRIC-National Institute of Immunology, the Indian National Science Academy National Committee for CODATA, and CoARA-ERIP, in cooperation with #semanticClimate and the Indian Institute of Information Technology Una. The report sets out the rationale for a national forum on research assessment in India, the summit programme within which the forum was launched, the forum’s principles, objectives, membership categories, and announced next steps, the registration for the summit, and the part CoARA-ERIP played. It is compiled from the final programme, the forum’s public web page, the announcement to the Research Data Alliance, and the registration records, and it does not record the content of the discussions.
