Aug 2026 · WORLD JOURNAL OF ENTREPRENEURIAL DEVELOPMENT STUDIES · 0 citations

Abstract

Strategic alignment, the synchronization of family business strategies with operational execution, is important for family business success. Despite its critical role, achieving effective alignment remains a significant challenge for Nigerian organizations, particularly due to an unpredictable economic environment, inadequate infrastructure, and policy inconsistencies. This study investigates the gap between corporate strategy and operational execution, highlighting key barriers and their implications for performance across sectors such as banking, telecommunications, oil and gas, and agriculture. Drawing from case studies, the research reveals how misaligned goals, poor communication, and resistance to change hinder strategic implementation. It underscores the consequences of these gaps, including reduced organizational performance, financial inefficiencies, and employee disengagement. The study also explores how global best practices, when adapted to Nigeria’s unique context, can bridge these gaps. Recommended strategies include enhancing communication channels, aligning goals across all organizational levels, implementing training and development programs, and establishing regular evaluation mechanisms. The findings emphasize that addressing these alignment challenges is essential not only for individual organizational success but also for fostering economic stability and growth in Nigeria. By providing actionable insights, the study serves as a framework for practitioners and policymakers aiming to improve strategic execution and drive sustainable development in Nigeria’s complex business environment.
