Abstract

The article is devoted to substantiation of the significance of developing an innovative methodological ap-proach aimed at the effective integration of sustainable development principles into the operational activities of industrial enterprises (using the oil and gas industry as an example). The paper formulates an author’s defini-tion of a business process of an industrial enterprise, which differs from existing interpretations by ESG param-eters integrating into the process objective function, by expanding the composition of stakeholders, and estab-lishing the necessity of digital support for the management framework. A five-stage model for ESG criteria in-tegrating into the business process KPI system is proposed, and a proprietary technology for expert assess-ment of an oil and gas enterprise ESG maturity encompassing six evaluation areas with a system of weight coefficients is developed. The methodology testing on the data of RussNeft PJSC allowed to achieve an inte-grated ESG maturity score of 2,15 out of 5, which confirms the presence of significant gaps in the field of for-malization of ESG strategy, energy management, and non-financial reporting. Drawing on the results of the testing, practical recommendations have been formulated for improving the company’s business processes in the areas of energy management, logistics, and corporate governance. The proposed toolkit can be used by medium-sized oil and gas companies for diagnosing their current state and identifying the priority areas for ESG transformation.
