Smart IoT-Based Remote Monitoring System Using XBee S2C Modules

Aug 2026 · International Journal on Advanced Science, Engineering and Information Technology · 0 citations

Abstract

Transceiver devices known as radio frequency (RF) modules allow systems to communicate wirelessly without a line of sight. Because of this, RF technology is favored for applications that need minimum physical infrastructure and long-range connectivity. Due to increased safety and regulatory requirements, one of the most crucial applications of RF modules is environmental parameter monitoring, which is becoming more and more crucial in sectors like smart homes, healthcare, and security. In remote or inaccessible areas, traditional wired systems frequently fail, highlighting the need for a more flexible and affordable option. This study proposes the design, development, and implementation of a wireless sensor network (WSN) using microcontroller units and XBee transceiver modules for efficient communication. These sensor nodes gather environmental data in real time and send it to a central node that uses the internet to connect with a Central Monitoring Station (CMS). After going through several processing steps, the gathered data is turned into actionable insights that end users can access through an interface on PCs or smartphones. By utilizing the Internet of Things (IoT), these systems make it possible to integrate sensor networks with internet-based platforms, guaranteeing safe and dependable access to vital data from distant locations. The goal of this project is to create a reliable, scalable, and effective IoT-enabled remote monitoring system for real-time environmental monitoring utilizing RF modules, showcasing its potential in a variety of applications.
