Artificial Intelligence in Education: Opportunities, Risks and Responsible Use
Abstract
Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly used in education to support tutoring, assessment, content generation, administrative work and personalized learning. This paper reviews major educational opportunities and risks associated with AI systems, especially generative AI. The discussion shows that AI can improve access to feedback, reduce repetitive teacher workload and provide adaptive learning support, but it can also introduce inaccurate information, bias, privacy concerns and overdependence on automated tools. Effective use therefore requires human oversight, transparent policies, digital literacy and careful protection of student data. The paper concludes that AI is most useful when it augments, rather than replaces, the professional judgment of teachers and the active participation of learners.
