Perception of Corruption in Slovakia and Possibilities for Solving It
Abstract
Substantially reducing corruption and bribery in all their forms is a sub-goal of the 16th Sustainable Development Goal of the United Nations, named Peace, justice and strong institutions. The Slovak Republic has set the fight against corruption as one of the national priorities for fulfilling the UN Sustainable Development Goals, through the Agenda 2030 as a strategic document. The Corruption Perceptions Index in Slovakia has been stable in the long term at around 50 points, gradually increasing from 2020 to 54 points in 2023. However, in 2024 it decreased to 49 points. There are many ways to reduce corruption, one of them is to introduce anti-corruption management in businesses, non-profit and public institutions. The aim of the paper is to analyze the development of the Corruption Perceptions Index in Slovakia and to compare it with abroad, to examine its causes and formulate recommendations for the business, non-profit and public sectors.
