2026 · Managing Sustainable Development · 0 citations

Abstract

The idea of modern “sustainable development”, aimed at preserving key civilizational values, highlights the importance of quality education and the formation of an information society. These circumstances emphasize the need to address tasks related to preparing students with well-developed interdisciplinary competencies that are essential for successful careers and solving complex professional challenges. An open educational environment and free access to Open Educational Resources (OER) play a significant role in achieving these goals. This systematic review of literature systematizes contemporary researchers' views on the problem of interdisciplinary learning, identifying its main principles, organizational forms, and connection with digital technologies, particularly through the use of OER. Analysis of publications allows us to identify several key aspects. Among them are: an interdisciplinary approach and utilization of OER significantly enhance the quality of education, improve academic performance, and stimulate student creativity. However, there are serious difficulties, including teacher training levels and lack of common infrastructure for optimal management of these resources. The study's findings indicate the necessity of creating special programs focused on deepening interdisciplinary competencies and expanding access to high-quality educational materials. Scientific libraries can play a crucial role in providing informational support for this approach. This overview provides a theoretical foundation for further research and development of an optimal model for scientific library functioning within the context of open science, aimed at improving the quality of user information support. Conducting subsequent studies and implementing this model will allow formulating strategic decisions for the scientific library, where it acts as an integrator connecting academic objectives with the resources of a digital open ecosystem.
