Abstract

Currently, one of the main tasks in the economic development of Kazakhstan is closely connected to the utilization of energy resources, and the efficient use of these resources is one of the fundamental drivers of the economy. This study explores the theoretical and practical aspects of energy supply and identifies prospects for achieving sustainable energy supply in Kazakhstan in the context of hosting EXPO 2017 in Astana. This study aims to examine the theoretical and practical aspects of energy supply in Kazakhstan and determine solutions for achieving sustainable energy supply in the context of globalization. The problem has received little attention from scientists, especially with regard to alternative and renewable energy sources. Research methods employed include general scientific methods of analysis and synthesis, as well as monographic, economic and statistical research methods. The authors propose key areas for improving sustainable electricity supply in Kazakhstan in the context of implementing ESG standards.
