Abstract

The article systematizes and comprehends the scientific contribution of Professor D.A. Suseeva to Russian linguistics. It reveals the key areas of her research: the historical study of the Kalmyk language in synchrony and diachrony (based on archival documents from the 18th century, including texts in Todo Bichig), the description of morphemics and word formation in the Kalmyk language in comparison with other languages, primarily Mongolian and Russian, as well as the linguosociological analysis of business and epistolary language as a reflection of social practices. Special attention is paid to the scientist's fundamental monographs on the grammatical structure of the Kalmyk language in the 18th century, the letters of the Kalmyk khans, and the comparative grammar of the Russian and Kalmyk languages, as well as the empirical database she created, including word-formation dictionaries and the introduction of archival documents from the 18th century into scientific circulation. The continuity of D.A. Suseeva's scientific ideas is demonstrated, showing how her approaches to the study of language systems are implemented in the dissertation research of her students and thus a linguistic scientific school is formed at Kalmyk State University named after B.B. Gorodovikov. The article emphasizes the significance for modern studies of Mongolic languages and linguistic source studies of D.A. Suseeva's research, which combine diachronic analysis, comparative methods, and work with primary sources.
