Digitalization and Innovative Leadership in the Development of Modern Entrepreneurship
Abstract
Modern entrepreneurship operates amidst accelerating technological change, intensifying global competition, shifting consumer behavior patterns, and the growing role of data in managerial decision-making. In this environment, digital technologies are evolving beyond mere tools for automating specific business processes; they are becoming the foundation for transforming business models, organizational structures, customer interaction methods, and mechanisms for creating economic value. OECD studies confirm that the digitalization of small and medium-sized enterprises creates opportunities to enhance productivity, innovation, and competitiveness and to enter new markets, although small-scale enterprises continue to face a shortage of financial resources, digital competencies, and internal organizational capabilities [1; 2]. These processes are of particular importance for Ukraine's business sector. The Strategy for the Recovery, Sustainable Development, and Digital Transformation of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises for the period up to 2027 explicitly identifies innovation-driven development, digital transformation, and the development of human capital and entrepreneurial culture as key strategic goals of state policy [3]. Consequently, the digitalization of business should not be viewed in isolation from management systems but rather in conjunction with the development of human capital, entrepreneurial competencies, and innovative leadership. Digital transformation is altering the very nature of entrepreneurial activity. According to S. Nambisan’s concept of digital entrepreneurship, digital technologies transform the boundaries of entrepreneurial processes, the sources of opportunities, and the mechanisms for creating entrepreneurial value [4]. Consequently, the modern entrepreneur must not only identify market opportunities but also possess the ability to leverage digital platforms, artificial intelligence, cloud services, analytics systems, e-commerce, and digital communication channels to capitalize on these opportunities. At the same time, the mere presence of digital technologies does not guarantee an enterprise's innovative development. Crucial to this process is the leader's ability to formulate a strategic vision for digital transformation, mobilize staff, foster a readiness to experiment, and create an organizational environment where innovations can be generated, tested, and scaled. For this reason, digitalization and innovative leadership should be viewed as interconnected components of the modern business model. This article aims to provide a theoretical foundation for the interrelationship between digitalization and innovative leadership in the development of modern entrepreneurship, to identify the key mechanisms through which they influence enterprise competitiveness, and to formulate practical recommendations for developing a digital-innovation management model. The scientific contribution of the study lies in integrating digital infrastructure, digital competencies, innovative leadership, and organizational culture into a unified conceptual framework of enterprise digital innovation capability.
