Abstract

This article demonstrates both various methods of measurement and clear examples of the impact of digital technologies on the economies of countries with different levels of development, against the backdrop of growing imbalances within the global space. The aim of the article is to assess the impact of digital transformation on the economy using various measurement methods. The analysis was carried out using the author’s methodology, which is based on calculating specially developed indices, as well as a measurement method based on building regression models, which makes it possible to trace the dynamics of macroeconomic indicators under the influence of digital development indicators. Conclusions have been drawn that the indices developed by the author demonstrate both successes and problematic areas in the digital transformation of the Russian economy. The high pace of digitalization is only partially translating into a macroeconomic effect, transforming into moderate GDP growth and supporting the economy during crisis periods. An analysis of econometric models has led to the conclusion that the introduction of digital technologies can influence macroeconomic dynamics, but for this influence to become statistically significant, the level of digital maturity needs to be increased, especially in the least developed countries.
