Grit and Entrepreneurial Resilience: The Moderating Role of Locus of Control among Entrepreneurs in Jos Plateau State.
Abstract
Entrepreneurs are the backbone of every thriving economy, as they own firms that pay taxes to the government, but as important as they seem to be, they struggle through resilience to achieve the fit they reach in the business venture they pursue. This study investigated how grit personality (consistency of interest and perseverance of effort) affects Entrepreneurial resilience. The study specifically looked at the role of locus of control (internal and external) as a moderating construct. The study was carried out in Jos North and environs, Plateau State, Nigeria. The research discovered a strong, significant link between grit personality consistency of interest, perseverance of effort and entrepreneurial resilience, moderated by locus of control: internal and external. This reveal that even though grit personality can have a positive impact on entrepreneurial resilience, the moderating effect of locus of control reveals which of the grit constructs is more significant than the other in developing Entrepreneurial resilience.
