Design of a Web-Based 3D Learning Media for Three-Dimensional Geometry

Aug 2026 · ICEETE Conference Series · 0 citations

Abstract

Three-dimensional geometry is a fundamental topic in senior high school mathematics that requires students to develop spatial visualization and conceptual understanding. However, conventional learning media often rely on static two-dimensional illustrations, making it difficult for students to comprehend the characteristics of three-dimensional objects and their mathematical relationships. This study aims to design Dimensia-3D, a web-based interactive learning media that supports the learning of three-dimensional geometry through interactive visualization and calculation simulation. The proposed learning media was designed using the Web Development Life Cycle (WDLC) methodology, with the research scope limited to the planning, analysis, and design phases. The analysis phase produced a set of functional and non-functional requirements that defined the learning and system functionalities, while the design phase resulted in a navigation flowchart, use case diagram, and low-fidelity wireframes describing the system architecture and user interaction. A key contribution of the proposed design is the integration of learning materials, interactive 3D visualization, and geometric calculation simulation within a single web-based interface covering seven geometric solids: cube, cuboid, sphere, cylinder, cone, square pyramid, and triangular prism. The resulting design provides a structured and implementation-ready blueprint that can support the future development of interactive geometry learning media for senior high school students. Future research will focus on implementing the proposed system and evaluating its usability and educational effectiveness.
