Abstract

BackgroundCancer survivors frequently experience anxiety and depression, which can impair quality of life. Digital psycho-oncology interventions represent a promising strategy to address these psychosocial concerns.AimThis systematic review evaluated the types of digital psycho-oncology interventions for cancer survivors and summarized their efficacy in reducing anxiety and depression.MethodsThis systematic review adhered to PRISMA guidelines and was registered in PROSPERO (CRD420251240232). Searches were conducted in PubMed, Scopus, MEDLINE, PsycNET, and CINAHL for articles published between 2015 and 2025. Eligible studies evaluated digital psycho-oncology interventions for cancer survivors and assessed anxiety and/or depression. Methodological quality was appraised using the Joanna Briggs Institute tools, and findings were synthesized descriptively.ResultsOf 720 identified records, 11 studies met the inclusion criteria. Web-based platforms were the most common delivery modality, followed by mobile applications. Interventions were generally multicomponent, most often combining psychoeducation and social/psychological support, and ranged in duration from 4 weeks to 12 months. Anxiety was assessed in 7 studies, all of which reported significant reductions. Depression was assessed in 10 studies; 5 reported significant improvement, whereas 5 found non-significant effects.ConclusionsDigital psycho-oncology interventions appear promising for improving psychosocial outcomes in cancer survivors, particularly anxiety. However, evidence for depression remains mixed. Future research should prioritize larger, methodologically robust trials with standardized outcomes and longer follow-up to address current heterogeneity.
