Production Enhancement for Deviated Wells Using Gas Lift System
Abstract
Among the production technologies used in the oil and gas fields are the systems of artificial lifts. Wells that lost their ability to produce the liquid up to the surface by the natural force usually require lifting technology to bring the well back to production. The gas lift system is commonly used in many oil fields to enhance production. The main operating principle of the gas lift system is to inject gas down the well at a certain depth to lighten the heavy liquid produced from the reservoir by decreasing its average density, hence the declined reservoir pressure will be capable of lifting the lighter fluids to the surface. This project is based upon a Z-named deviated well. The field’s average reservoir pressure is expected to decrease together with an increase in the amount of water cut, because of this production may seize soon. The major objective is designing a gas lift system to enhance production of both current and unfavorable future conditions, where based on reservoir forecasting, reservoir pressure will decline to 2700 psi. The water cut is also expected to reach 60%. PROSPER will fully describe the methodology of designing a gas-lift system. The designing and completion process will only be performed when the project is ensured that it is economically valuable and it will maximize oil production at different reservoir conditions.
