Abstract

The application of artificial intelligence (AI) in nursing is transitioning from proof-of-concept to clinical exploration; however, the widening gap between the pace of technological implementation and the development of institutional frameworks and ethical norms has become increasingly apparent. This study adopts a critical perspective to examine three core controversies in the AI-empowerment of nursing: the potential impact of AI on clinical judgment in nursing, the erosion of nursing subjectivity in interdisciplinary collaboration, and the lag in ethical regulatory frameworks alongside the construction of governance pathways. This study argues that nurses should leverage AI based on a sound understanding of its technical logic and collaborate within the institutional framework of ethical review, while consistently retaining primary authority over clinical decision-making and assuming frontline responsibility for the oversight of AI applications. The study posits that the essence of interdisciplinary collaboration is not a unidirectional input of technology into nursing, but rather a bidirectional transformation and co-evolution of multidisciplinary knowledge.
