Sep 2026 · Общество философия история культура · 0 citations

Abstract

This article proposes a topic for discussion on commemoration as a cultural process that not only exhibits resil-ience in its classical forms but also actively embraces and utilizes new communicative, technological, and creative practices. Commemoration encompasses not only the memory of traumas and epic events of the past, but also the memory of urban development, scientific discoveries, historical events of local significance, and so on. The article provides an overview of theoretical approaches to the concept under consideration and, based on these materials, analyzes real cases of commemorative practices at the Murmansk Regional Art Museum (the “SkulpturNO!” and “Art in a Familiar Route” projects) and the Murmansk Arctic University (the “Sea on the City Streets” project). It concludes that the diversity of forms of commodification creates a reliable system of cultural values and reference points.
