THE ROLE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN MODERN CORPUS LINGUISTICS
Abstract
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become one of the most influential technological innovations affecting contemporary linguistic research. The rapid development of machine learning, natural language processing (NLP), and large language models (LLMs) has significantly transformed the methods and scope of corpus linguistics. This article investigates the role of artificial intelligence in modern corpus linguistics and analyzes its contribution to corpus compilation, annotation, processing, and interpretation. Particular attention is paid to the application of AI technologies in lexical, semantic, syntactic, and discourse analysis. The study demonstrates that AI substantially enhances the efficiency and accuracy of corpus-based research, enabling scholars to process vast amounts of linguistic data and identify language patterns that would be difficult to detect through traditional methods. The article also discusses the challenges associated with data quality, algorithmic bias, and interpretative limitations. The findings indicate that the integration of artificial intelligence into corpus linguistics has opened new perspectives for linguistic research and contributed to the development of digital linguistics.
