Efficacy of Synthetic Fungicides to Control Fusarium Wilt of Tomato
Abstract
Tomato is an important vegetable crop throughout the world including Pakistan. Fusarium wilt of tomato caused by the pathogen Fusarium oxysporum is most serious and destructive disease of tomato crop. The experiment was conducted in Plant Pathology, Balochistan Agriculture College, Quetta under in vitro and in vivo conditions to check the efficiency of various chemicals in vitro viz., (Topsin-M, Puslan and Aerosel) at different concentrations, in which Puslan was found most effective and Topsin-M found least effective against mycelial colony growth of Fusarium oxysporum under in vitro condition. Moreover, the efficiency of various fungicides viz., Stroll plus, Puslan, Aerosal, Dew and Topsin-M was checked in vivo conditions in the experimental field and each treatment was used with three replications along with T6 which was kept as control on which no fungicide was applied. Disease severity was checked from infected plants and data was statistically analyzed. Among the tested fungicide Puslan was found efficient fungicide in controlling the Fusarium wilt of tomato followed by Aerosal, Stroll plus, Dew, Topsin-M and control respectively under field condition. So, the Puslan was recommended for management of Fusarium wilt disease. Keywords: Fusarium wilt, management, in vitro, in vivo, tomato.
