MAAS PLATFORMS AS PRECURSORS OF TECHNOLOGICAL LEADERSHIP IN THE MACHINE TOOL INDUSTRY

Abstract

In the context of global production chain transformation and the shift from import substitution to technological leadership, digital tools for industrial coordination are becoming critically important. The paper argues that Manufacturing as a Service (MaaS) platforms can serve as a system‑forming precursor for the development of the machine‑tool industry, enabling not only transaction cost reduction but also the establishment of a new industry governance architecture based on big data. The evolution of MaaS platforms is analysed, three main development trends are identified (servitisation, industrial IoT, platformisation), and a forward‑looking vision of platforms in the tactical and strategic term is proposed. Special attention is paid to state mechanisms for creating a "national champion" - a sovereign MaaS platform integrating industrial data collection, cooperation management, and strategic planning functions. It is shown that such a platform can transform equipment manufacturers' business models, create technological lock‑in for foreign partners, and generate long‑term competitive advantages in global markets.
