LITERACY CHALLENGES: BARRIERS TO READING AND WRITING IN CHILDREN'S INITIAL EDUCATION
Abstract
This study aims to broadly explore the obstacles that affect early childhood literacy. The research begins by identifying persistent problems, as well as the significant number of students who face difficulties in learning to read and write. The main question is: What truly impedes the literacy process and, consequently, the acquisition of knowledge? The hypothesis is based on the idea that a combination of social, educational, and family factors represent the main obstacles to childhood literacy. The methodology used adopts a literature review approach, with a qualitative analysis of books and articles by scholars addressing the same topic. The aim is for this study to highlight the main challenges children encounter as they begin their literacy journey.
