INFLUENCE OF LIF (rs322167972) AND BF (rs339261793) DNA MARKER POLYMORPHISM ON THE REPRODUCTIVE PERFORMANCE OF TWO-BREED MATERNAL FORMS Y × L IN AN INDUSTRIAL PIG FARM
Abstract
For the first time, an analysis was carried out of the influence of polymorphisms of the LIF (rs322167972) and BF (rs339261793) genes, which are potentially significant for the selection of pigs for reproductive qualities, on two-breed sows (n = 70) from a combination of the Yorkshire and Landrace breeds, used as final maternal forms in the implementation of three-breed industrial crossing in the conditions of a pig-breeding complex. A reliable (P≤0.05; P≤0.001) superiority of the tested and main sows carrying the LIFBB genotype over sows with the LIFAA genotype was established in the total number of piglets in a litter by 2.4 heads and 2.0 heads, and in terms of multiple pregnancy – by 2.2 heads and 1.9 heads, respectively, as well as a noticeable superiority of homozygous sows with the BFAA genotype over animals with the BFBB genotype in the total number of piglets – by 2.2 heads and 1.8 heads, without a reliable difference, and in terms of multiple pregnancy by 3.1 heads and a reliable – by 2.8 heads (P≤0.05), respectively. A decrease in the weight of the litter at weaning was revealed in the tested and main sows with the LIFBB genotype in comparison with carriers of the LIFAA and LIFAB genotypes by 5.1 kg and 4.2 kg without a reliable difference, and reliably by 5.6 kg and 4.7 kg (P≤0.05), respectively, as well as the leadership of sows with the BFAA genotype in this indicator, but without a reliable superiority. Thus, sows with the LIFBB and BFAA genotypes are preferred for selection based on such parameters as the total number of piglets born per farrowing and the number of live piglets born (prolificacy); sows with the LIFAA/AB and BFAA genotypes are preferred for selection based on the number of piglets at weaning and litter weight at weaning.
