Drone army or army for drones. In which direction will the unmanned revolution in the Polish Army be heading? A discussion article
Abstract
The publication addresses the processes of implementing and using unmanned systems in the Polish Armed Forces. The aim is to analyse the directions of implementation of modern unmanned systems as they relate to the solutions used in modern military conflicts. The study is based on an analysis of publicly available publications discussing the researched issues, including those published in military trade magazines, and also available online. The study covers three issues concerning the directions and methods of applying unmanned systems, which are being implemented in parallel despite the fact that they should be treated as optional. The leads to a conclusion that the process of change is insufficient to meet current challenges, which results in a rather modest advancement in the implementation of modern solutions, even while the knowledge of unmanned aerial vehicles allows for more ambitious measures in the area of modernisation of the armed forces.
