Abstract

This case study explores the application of the Lean Six Sigma methodology to improve operational efficiency in Ferretería Llibre, a hardware company in the Dominican Republic. Facing issues related to inventory control, transportation logistics, and raw material selection, Ferretería Llibre struggled with inefficiencies that impacted customer satisfaction and financial performance. Through a systematic approach using Lean Six Sigma's DMAIC phases—Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control—the study identified key areas for improvement in the company's logistics and inventory management processes. Solutions implemented included optimized inventory controls, streamlined logistics for order delivery, and refined raw material quality criteria aimed at reducing waste and improving productivity. This study demonstrates that Lean Six Sigma provides a structured framework for addressing complex operational challenges, enhancing the company's competitiveness, and ensuring a higher standard of service for its customers.
