Presencia de un hongo neopestalotioide responsable de pudrición y muerte en plantaciones de fresa: una revisión
Abstract
The cultivation of the domesticated strawberry (Fragaria x ananassa) stands out for being considered a fruit with high nutritional content for humans, in recent years this crop has shown health problems associated with de presence of a neopestalotioid fungus of the genus Neopestalotiopsis, his recently emerged disease causes fruit, crown and root rot, as well as leaf blight on leavels and petiols of the plant, eventually leading to its death. Some of the responsible species have already been identified. An exhaustive review of literature related to the fungus Neopestalotiopsis sp., was carried out, selecting and analyzing scientific articles found in databases such as Scopus, Web of Science, PubMed, Google Scholar, the Sordariomycetes taxonomic portal and the ResearchGate dissemination platform from years 2016 to 2025. These studies identified the presence of the neopestalotioid fungus as responsible for causing up to seventy percent of production losses. The distribution of neopestalotioid extends across several regions of the world. In the Americas, it can be found in various geographical areas, including Mexico. For integrated disease management, the use of antagonistic fungi and bacteria is reported, based on the logical of competition and release of secondary that these microorganisms have against the pathogen, and the use of fungicides belonging to the chemical groups of dithiocarbamates, anilinopyrimidines, phenylpyrroles, carboxamides, phtalamides and strobilurins. The use of preventive measures is suggested, as well as the implementation of cultivars resistant to Neopestalotiopsis sp.
