STRATEGIC DIRECTIONS OF TRANSFORMATION OF THE GAS INDUSTRY
Abstract
The gas industry is undergoing a period of strategic rethinking, finding itself at the epicenter of global challenges: the climate agenda and digital transformation. This article examines certain promising technological development areas, specifically exploring methane decarbonization, which results in the separation of feedstock into pure carbon and hydrogen. It is argued that implementing technological shifts requires organizational transformation based on the formation of a digital business ecosystem for the gas industry and the development of platform solutions. Within the existing business ecosystem, special attention is given to tools for the effective implementation of investment projects. A key element of the proposed strategy is control support—a monitoring, audit, and feedback system integrated into a digital platform that enables the assessment of decarbonization target achievement, capital investment efficiency, and risks at all stages of the project lifecycle. Furthermore, for effective resource management, empirical models are being developed to quantitatively evaluate the relationship between investment activity and the financial performance of companies, using industry leaders as examples. Thus, the article offers a comprehensive view of the gas sector development strategy, integrating technological, managerial, and financial aspects.
