Vertical farming as a factor in ensuring food security in Russia
Abstract
Global economic trends demonstrate a constant search for growth drivers, which in recent decades have included sustainable development, carbon regulation, and the development of green finance instruments. All these processes are based on the ESG approach, which is understood as the effective management of three components of production: consideration of environmental, social, and governance factors. Environmental factors include the depletion of natural resources (shortage of drinking water), waste generation, and environmental pollution. Social factors include protecting public health and life, ensuring normal working conditions, an optimal balance between highly paid and low-paid employees, etc. Governance factors include corruption and bribery, golden parachutes for top management, principles for the formation of independent board members, tax evasion, and predictive crime. Adherence to the ESG approach in the management of any economic processes by all stakeholders ensures stable development, which is essential for achieving economic sovereignty. Based on this position, food security processes play a crucial role in ensuring economic sovereignty, as they are the foundation of social and human life. Food security guarantees political consensus between government, society, and business, as the basis for stable and progressive development. To identify threats and risks to food security, a SWOT analysis was conducted, and based on this, a multivariate regression analysis was conducted.
