Abstract

The article examines the peculiarities of using soft skills as an effective means of pedagogical influence in physical education classes. The relevance of the study is determined by the transformation of modern educational priorities, which focus not only on the development of physical abilities and motor skills but also on the formation of personal, social, and communicative competencies of students. In this context, physical education is considered as an important educational environment that provides opportunities for the development of universal skills necessary for successful interaction, self-regulation, and adaptation in contemporary society. The purpose of the article is to theoretically substantiate the role of soft skills in improving students’ learning activities, motivation, and social interaction during physical education classes. The research is based on the analysis, generalization, and systematization of scientific literature devoted to soft skills development, competency-based education, and social-emotional learning in the field of physical education. The study identifies the main soft skills that can be effectively developed through physical education, including communication skills, teamwork, responsibility, leadership, emotional self-regulation, decision-making, and cooperation. The analysis demonstrates that the practical and interactive nature of physical activity creates favorable conditions for their formation through group tasks, sports games, cooperative learning, and reflective practices. The article substantiates pedagogical approaches to integrating soft skills into the educational process, including cooperative learning strategies, situations requiring independent decision-making, peer interaction, and reflective activities. These approaches contribute to increasing students’ motivation, improving the psychological climate within the group, and developing constructive patterns of social behavior. The obtained results confirm that soft skills should be considered an integral component of modern physical education, expanding its traditional focus from physical development toward the comprehensive formation of students’ personalities.
