2026 · International journal on emerging technologies · 0 citations

Abstract

Pearl millet is an important food crop in Rajasthan and it thrives well in hot arid, low-input environments. It can be used both as grain and fodder in areas with little rainfall or dryland area. By combining high yield, drought tolerance, disease resistance and dual-purpose value for food and animal systems the hybrid breeding has increased pearl millet productivity. In the state of Rajasthan dry and semi-arid climates, hybrid pearl millet seed production is essential for boosting agricultural output, nutritional security and farmer income. Higher grain output, drought resistance and better adaptation to marginal areas are just a few of the many benefits of hybrid pearl millet. In terms of nutrition, it provides vital micronutrients like iron and zinc as well as calories, protein and dietary fibre. Modern hybrid seed products are being developed for climate-stressed areas, according to recent developments. Further, in terms of the economy, hybrid seed production increases farmers' livelihood security, employment prospects and profitability in Rajasthan. Overall, the hybrid pearl millet seed production represents a viable approach for enhancing agricultural sustainability, nutritional security and rural income generation in Rajasthan.
