Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of the social media platform TikTok in instilling the character values of politeness and responsibility in Grade V B students during Pancasila Education lessons at SDN 6 Masbagik Utara, as well as to identify supporting factors and obstacles. This descriptive qualitative study collected data through participant observation, in-depth interviews with the principal, teachers, and students, and documentation. Data validity was verified through technique and source triangulation, followed by analysis involving data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the cultivation of politeness is evident in students' respectful communication ethics toward teachers in the classroom, although they frequently use viral TikTok terms when interacting with peers during breaks. Regarding the character of responsibility, TikTok has no direct impact on assignment completion as it is accessed purely for entertainment; however, the prevalence of short-form content has been shown to diminish perseverance and foster a desire for instant gratification in learning. As a preventive measure, teachers integrate digital literacy into Pancasila Education lessons using digital interactive boards. The primary obstacles lie in limited school supervision outside of class hours and lax parental restrictions on mobile phone usage at home. The study concludes that continuous education regarding the negative impacts of digital devices and close collaboration between schools and parents are the most effective strategies for mitigating the adverse effects of social media on students
