Abstract

In modern urban environments, a significant amount of mechanical energy generated by moving vehicles is wasted, especially at road structures such as speed breakers. With the increasing demand for sustainable and renewable energy sources, there is a strong need to develop systems that can efficiently capture and utilize this unused energy. This paper presents the design and implementation of a smart energy harvesting system that converts mechanical energy from vehicle movement into usable electrical energy. The proposed system utilizes a mechanical arrangement to capture the force exerted by vehicles and convert it into rotational motion, which is then transformed into electrical energy. The generated energy is conditioned to obtain a stable output and is stored for later use, enabling continuous energy availability even in the absence of traffic. The system incorporates sensing mechanisms to monitor important parameters such as voltage and current, providing insight into the performance and efficiency of the energy generation process. To enhance functionality, an IoT-based monitoring approach is integrated, allowing real-time data transmission and visualization through cloud platforms. This enables remote monitoring and analysis of the system's performance. The proposed solution is cost-effective, environmentally friendly, and suitable for smart city applications, offering a practical approach to energy conservation and utilization.
