Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is increasingly becoming part of university education. Students use AI tools for searching information, generating ideas, improving language, summarizing academic material, and receiving assistance with different learning tasks. This study examined the role of Artificial Intelligence in relation to students’ critical thinking skills at the University of Narowal. A quantitative descriptive survey design was adopted. Data were collected from 340 students through the AI Tools and Critical Thinking Questionnaire.(AIT-CTQ), using a five-point Likert scale. The data were analyzed through SPSS Version 26 using descriptive statistics, reliability analysis, Pearson correlation, regression analysis, and one-way ANOVA as appropriate. The findings showed a strong positive and statistically significant relationship between AI use and critical thinking (r = .737, p < .001). Regression analysis also indicated a statistically significant association between AI use and reported critical thinking ( = .737, p < .001), with R² = .544. Because the study used a descriptive survey design, the results should not be interpreted as proof of causation.
