Abstract

This study presents an intelligent shopping cart system designed to enhance the retail shopping experience by automating billing and preventing theft in supermarkets and retail stores. The system addresses two common retail problems: long checkout queues and item theft. It uses Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology, weight sensors, and a Telegram-based payment system to provide automatic billing and real-time theft detection. The Smart Cart includes several key components, such as RFID-based user authentication, an RFID reader for product scanning, a load cell for weight verification, an LCD display for showing product and billing information, and a Telegram bot for payment guidance and notifications. The weight verification feature compares the actual weight of items in the cart with the expected weight of scanned products. If a mismatch is detected, the system sends an alert through Telegram, indicating a possible theft attempt or scanning error. By automating the billing process and improving security, the system helps retailers reduce human errors and dependence on cashier staff. At the same time, customers benefit from a faster and more convenient shopping experience by avoiding long checkout lines. Overall, the system enhanced the automation and digital transformation of modern retail shopping.
