Economic risks in modern entrepreneurship: global challenges, regional strategies and innovative management methods in an era of turbulence

2026 · Galician economic journal · 0 citations · 3 references

Abstract

This article provides a comprehensive theoretical, methodological, and empirical analysis of the transformation of economic risks within the modern entrepreneurial landscape, driven by a fundamental shift in the global market architecture. The author examines the transition from classical instability paradigms, such as VUCA, to emerging conceptual frameworks like BANI and RUPT, which most accurately reflect the realities of 2026. The research demonstrates that the current era of «permanent turbulence» is characterized by a new nature of risk, where even minor local disturbances can trigger disproportionate and catastrophic consequences for business systems due to nonlinear effects. Based on a critical analysis of reports from leading international organizations, including the World Economic Forum, geoeconomic confrontation is identified as a primary destabilizing factor. This phenomenon disrupts traditional global supply chains, compelling business entities to shift toward regional «friend-shoring» strategies. The study proves that in an environment of «incomprehensibility», traditional financial controlling tools lose their predictive power, necessitating the adoption of innovative management methods. The scientific novelty of this research lies in justifying the need for the systemic integration of Agile frameworks and intelligent management tools - such as AI-driven stress testing and predictive analytics - into enterprise management structures. The author emphasizes that the deployment of artificial intelligence must be accompanied by the development of ethical safeguards and cybersecurity protocols. Based on the research findings, the article offers strategic recommendations for top management and government regulators on forming agile management structures capable of proactive response to extreme challenges. Specifically, a model of «adaptive risk monitoring» is proposed, enabling the transformation of environmental anxiety and nonlinearity into sources of strategic opportunity for innovative breakthroughs. The study concludes that in today’s unpredictable world, business survival depends not on attempts to resist change, but on the ability to transform fragility into systemic flexibility and ensure operational continuity amidst permanent crisis.
