Impact of Tableau Data Visualization on Business Decision-Making
Abstract
Data has become an important resource for modern businesses, as organizations generate large volumes of information through sales, customer activities, finance, marketing, and operations. However, raw data is often difficult to interpret and use effectively for business decisions. Data visualization helps address this problem by presenting complex information through charts, graphs, and interactive dashboards. Tableau is a widely used business intelligence and visualization platform that allows users to explore data, identify trends, monitor performance, and generate business insights. This paper examines the impact of Tableau data visualization on business decision-making, with particular emphasis on interactive dashboards, filters, charts, drill-down analysis, and visual exploration. The study follows a descriptive and analytical approach and is based on secondary information obtained from academic publications and other credible research sources. Greater emphasis is given to studies published in 2024 and 2025 to reflect recent developments in dashboard-based decision support and Tableau applications. The reviewed literature suggests that well-designed dashboards can improve information understanding, reduce task complexity, support performance analysis, and assist managers in making timely and informed decisions. Recent Tableau-related research also shows the practical value of interactive dashboards for sales analysis in MSMEs. Overall, Tableau can support business decision-making when reliable data, suitable visualization design, relevant business context, and user skills are considered together
