Current directions of implementation of the state information policy: specifics in the conditions of formation and development of the new information society
Abstract
The article reveals the features of various levels of formation and development of the information society of the new formation, within which a new socio-political agenda is formulated, political roles and functions are distributed in a new way, updated interaction tools are generated, etc. The key problematic aspects of the activities of subjects of the information policy of the state in modern conditions are determined – public authorities, political institutions, lobby groups, mass media, members of civil society, etc. Several relevant areas for implementing the state’s information policy are proposed, driven primarily by the need to improve existing technical and infrastructural foundations, search for new ways to ensure political literacy and public engagement, and enhance the effectiveness of control and enforcement mechanisms against the backdrop of the rapid digitalization of all spheres of public life. The authors come to the conclusion that even taking into account the appearance of various positive innovations caused by informatization, reflection on some systemic problems is becoming increasingly important – the politicization of information, manipulation of public consciousness, as well as the spread of post-truth narratives. The emerging new political worldview must correspond to adequate political and informational reflection by individuals regarding the phenomena and processes observed in the political space. In the context of public administration, it is necessary to establish standard, effective practices for successful political socialization and the development of an activist political culture among the younger generation, given the dynamic changes in the information environment and the tools of information interaction, the transformation of political circumstances, and the emergence of new political values that are objectively incorporated into the programmatic principles of the state’s information policy.
