Clinical and Demographic Profile of Pulmonary Tuberculosis Patients Based on AFB Examination Results at UKI General Hospital, Jakarta
Abstract
Pulmonary tuberculosis (TB), caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, remains a major public health concern in Indonesia. This study described Acid-fast bacilli (AFB) examination results among pulmonary TB patients at Universitas Kristen Indonesia General Hospital from January to December 2023. A descriptive quantitative design was applied using medical records and total sampling of 41 patients. Univariate and bivariate analyses were conducted. Positive AFB results were found in 31 patients (75.6%), while 10 (24.4%) were negative. Most patients were aged 15–64 years (70.7%) and male (65.9%). AFB positivity was higher among males (81.5%) than females (64.3%). Overall, positive AFB results predominated, particularly among male and productive age patients.
