Comparative Toxicity and Lethal Time Analysis of selected Insecticides against Tuta absoluta under Glasshouse Conditions
Abstract
Probit analysis demonstrated a clear time-dependent increase in toxicity of all tested insecticides against Tuta absoluta. LC50 values consistently declined from 6 to 12 hours of exposure, indicating enhanced mortality with prolonged contact duration. Among the evaluated products, Belt SC 480 exhibited the lowest LC50 values, including 95% confidence limits at all exposure intervals, followed by Delta 2.5 EC and Benezer Plus 38.5% EC. Conversely, Titan 25 WDG required comparatively higher doses to achieve similar mortality levels, suggesting relatively slower toxic action. The findings demonstrate variability in efficacy profiles among tested insecticides and highlight the importance of integrating mortality and lethal time metrics when selecting products for effective T. absoluta management. These results provide practical guidance for optimizing insecticide use under glasshouse conditions and contribute to resistance management strategies within integrated pest management (IPM) programs.
