Abstract
Academic stress is a common concern in higher education. Students encounter examinations, assignments, workload, performance expectations, financial concerns and uncertainty about future careers. When academic demands are perceived as excessive or uncontrollable, they may contribute to psychological difficulties such as anxiety, low mood, irritability, reduced concentration and emotional exhaustion. Social support is one of the major contextual resources that may influence the relationship between stress and mental health. Support can come from family members, friends, classmates, teachers, mentors and institutional services. Emotional support provides understanding and reassurance, while informational and instrumental support can help students solve practical problems.
