ANALISIS KESULITAN SISWA KELAS VIII DALAM MEMAHAMI TEKS QIRA’AH BERBAHASA ARAB DI MTSN 2 KOTA SURABAYA

Abstract

This study was conducted based on the problem of low Arabic qira'ah text comprehension among eighth-grade students at MTsN 2 Surabaya. Many students experienced difficulties in understanding vocabulary, sentence structures, and the overall meaning of reading texts. The study aimed to identify the forms of difficulties encountered by students and the factors contributing to their low comprehension of qira'ah texts. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The participants consisted of an Arabic language teacher and several eighth-grade students. The findings revealed that the main obstacles faced by students were limited vocabulary mastery, inadequate understanding of Arabic grammatical structures, and difficulties in comprehending the overall content of the texts. Factors influencing these difficulties included limited basic Arabic language proficiency, low learning motivation, an unconducive classroom environment, and the use of reading materials perceived as too difficult by students. On the other hand, the use of interactive and engaging learning media was found to help increase students' interest and improve their comprehension in qira'ah learning.
