Abstract

The crisis of critical thinking skills among university students in the digital era, characterized by the rapid flow of information and the high spread of misinformation, demands the presence of a strong epistemological framework in Islamic education. This study aims to analyze the concept of critical thinking in the Qur'an as a solution to strengthen students' scientific reasoning. The study uses a qualitative method of literature study with a thematic interpretation approach (tafsir maudhu'i), through a study of verses related to rationality, information verification, objectivity, and openness of thought. The results of the study show that the Qur'an emphasizes four main principles of critical thinking, namely rationality and argumentation (QS. Maryam: 42), the prohibition of following something without a basis in knowledge (QS. Al-Isra': 36), a selective and open attitude towards information (QS. Az-Zumar: 18; QS. An-Nahl: 125), and objectivity and freedom from personal bias (QS. An-Nisa: 135). These four principles provide a relevant conceptual foundation for strengthening analytical skills, intellectual integrity, and caution in receiving information. This study concludes that Qur'anic values can be integrated into the Islamic education process to form a rational, critical, and ethical scientific tradition, so that it is able to answer academic and social challenges in the digital era.
