Abstract

Bandung City is characterized by a high level of transportation density, with an average congestion level reaching 64.1%. This transportation density significantly affects air quality. In addition, Bandung is a densely populated urban area with limited green open spaces. This study aims to identify the influence of vegetation and transportation on air pollution in the urban area of Bandung City using a spatial data approach. Remote sensing technology, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and linear regression analysis were applied to determine the extent to which vegetation and transportation affect air pollution levels. The results indicate that the number of road nodes and the distance to roads have relationship on air pollution, with r-value of -0.674 and -0.542, respectively. On the other hand, the vegetation index in Bandung City shows an r-value of -0.597. These r-values fall within the moderate category, indicating a moderate relationship between the examined variables and air pollution levels. This study is expected to contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities).
