Enhancing Digital Payment Security Through Fingerprint Biometric Authentication
Abstract
Digital payments have grown rapidly since their introduction, which created a demand for transaction solutions that function with greater speed and enhanced security and improved ease of use. The researchers in this paper introduce a Wireless Fingerprint-Based Payment System that enables users to make payments through biometric authentication without any device requirements. The system enables customers to complete their transactions at retail biometric terminals through the use of their fingerprints, which differs from traditional mobile payment methods that require smartphone access and QR code scanning and PIN code entry. The system framework comprises three essential components that include a mobile application for new user registration and a cloud-based backend system which stores fingerprint data and oversees wallet functions and transaction processes and an in-store hardware configuration that includes a fingerprint sensor and a simple payment system. The system enables merchants to use their biometric hardware for authentication instead of requiring users to verify their identity on their own devices, which results in a simple singlestep checkout process that protects all information through cloud security systems. The systems differ from each other through three essential elements, which include their use of biometric identification as their sole authentication method and their provision of user-friendly access without any required devices and their centralized control of transaction processing. The research authors describe the technological framework of their study, which shows how the system will create future advantages through its payment gateway and fraud detection and KYC compliance functions.
